About Us

Michael Pohlman

Mike is the Managing Member of The Anchor Group and has over 28 years of business operations analysis and ERP software application implementation experience. He has worked in a wide variety of industries. He began his career performing audits with Ernst & Young but assisted with Tax work as well. Following three “busy seasons” he moved to consulting, assisting with many engagements ranging including Custom System Implementation, Financial Analysis and Business Process Improvement. His final three years were spent as a Project Manager.

Following eight years in Public Accounting/Consulting, Mr. Pohlman transitioned to the role of CEO for a family-owned chain of department stores in West Texas. As part of the business, he successfully implemented an integrated company-wide system utilizing Dynamics GP (Great Plains) as the system backbone. He maintained that position for seven years and also started four additional businesses in the finance, bookkeeping, rental equipment and education industries.
He enjoys spending time with his family and is active in his church. He enjoys running, biking and swimming.

Education

Michael earned his Bachelor’s degree from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma with Computer Science and Accounting majors with Business and Math minors.

Brad Sweeney

Brad joined The Anchor Group in August of 2011. He has 16 years of experience on the accounting operations side with multiple companies.

He served as Controller for First Choice ER from August of 2009 to August of 2011.

Brad has been a Dynamics GP Consultant for six years with multiple Microsoft GP partners.

Brad has a deep belief that the client deserves immediate response to their accounting systems problems – “We have no answering service…our cell phones are always on. I have been there and know the importance of talking to a LIVE person and getting the help you need when accounting systems produce errors.”

He enjoys spending his free time watching his son and daughter play sports and is active in his church.

Education

Brad received his BBA in Business from the University of North Texas and completed 36 hours of upper level accounting at the University of Texas Arlington. He is a CPA as well as a CFE.

Russ McClendon

Russ joined The Anchor Group in 2013 and has over 28 years of business operations analysis and ERP software application implementation experience. He has worked in a wide variety of industries.  He began his career in the Wholesale Distribution industry, and moved into banking and mortgage banking where he held various positions from Staff Accountant to Controller.  In 1997, he moved to ERP consulting, assisting with many engagements including Custom System Implementation, Financial Analysis and Business Process Improvement, in varying industries.

He enjoys spending time with his family and friends.  He enjoys running, biking and golf.

Education

Russ earned his Bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State) in San Marcos, TX with an Accounting major.

Douglas Roberts

Mr. Roberts has over 20 years of business experience in technology, accounting and operations roles and more than 15 years of experience in software application implementation and development.  He has worked in a wide variety of industries including distribution, education, healthcare and manufacturing.  He began his career in accounting and systems analysis for a large restaurant corporation and then moved to the distribution industry for two start-up companies. He then joined Epicor software and began a new career in software implementation and development.

After leaving Epicor, Doug joined Epartners, a mid-market consulting firm, where he led and managed more than 15 major ERP and CRM projects in many different industries and participated in more than 40 projects overall.  In 2004, Mr. Roberts left consulting to lead the technology team for a venture capital based distribution company where he completed the implementation of a complex ERP system and developed a Warehouse Management solution.  Following that, he worked in technology management roles in education and healthcare product distribution companies for several years, completing system setup and data conversion for several mergers and acquisitions.  Doug delivered several technology projects to improve efficiency and reduce cost across all areas of the business including finance and accounting, distribution, warehouse management, field services and manufacturing.  Doug joined Anchor Group in 2013.

He enjoys spending time with his family, golf, swimming and biking.

Education

Doug earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting Control Systems from the University of North Texas in Denton, TX.

Mariel Pohlman

Mariel Pohlman is a consultant for The Anchor Group. She is a CPA with a background in public accounting.  As an Assurance Senior at Ernst & Young, she gained experience in integrated audits across a wide variety of industries, including manufacturing, infrastructure, retail, and real estate. While at EY, she served on audit teams for both private and public clients, as well as pension plans and IFRS filers. As a senior auditor, Mariel developed specialties in merchandise accounting as well as the increasingly complex guidance around internal controls. Following three busy seasons, she transitioned to consulting with The Anchor Group.

Mariel has participated in several engagements to develop and maintain clients’ financial statements using Microsoft FRx and Microsoft Management Reporter.

Mariel enjoys traveling and ran her first two marathons in 2012 and is looking forward to more time for training in the coming year.

Education

Mariel graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
